Kalakuta Museum is a museum dedicated to the life and times of Fela Anikulapo Kuti, and located at his former residence and where he is laid to rest at Gbemisola Street, Allen Avenue, Ikeja, Lagos.
The museum was renovated by the Lagos State Governmnet and driven by the Kuti family's steadfast efforts to promote Fela's music, and legacy in Nigeria. As can be expected on visiting this museum you will get as close a glimpse to how Fela lived from his bedroom, sitting rooms, photographs, with many of Fela's clothes on display.
Fela's personal effects make up the bulk of the items on display. So if you are a fan then looking through Fela's shoes, his fitted outfits, and under graments are all a real treat. Also on display are newspaper clippings, album covers, photographs, and paints which all help to ensure you caputure a sense of how Fela lived, and how colourful and controversal he was.
