The library at the Centre for Contemporary Art in Lagos contains an extensive catalogue of visual art, which you can use to research and discover the West African contemporary scene. The centre is an independent organisation which hosts exhibitions, lectures, seminars and screenings. One of the biggest of its kind in West Africa, it provides a vital space for the discussion, exploration and development of art in the region. The adjoining library is combined with a large open art space.
The visual arts library aims to provide a place for the promotion of art in Nigeria and West Africa, by offering a wealth of information to anyone interested. Topics include contemporary art, critical theory and curation, all of which can be found in the 4500 items preserved on the library’s shelves. These include books, magazines, videos and journals.
The library is open to students, teachers, local and international curators, or just curious visitors.
